…a fog descends upon the Pyramids of Giza, Jan. 1, 2000…
….In hind sight this was a premonition of what was to unfold in the new millennia,… a metaphor of what lay ahead for humanity… of the uncertainty and tensions that the world would soon experience: 2nd Intifada, in the Middle East 9 months hence, Global warming, dysfunctional politics, Us vs Them ie. a democratic West vs a Totalitarian East, Global pandemics, and the rise of the ‘Enemy within’ ie. the rise of Fascism within America by way of Trumpism.
Y2K, Dec.31, 1999 overlooking the incredible sight of the Pyramids of Giza just outside the city of Cairo, the nocturnal energy anticipating an amazing 12 hour performance ; a harmonious confluence of symphonic synthesized music blended into distinctive exotic middle eastern music with a backdrop of animated Egyptian gods and glowing hand held torches meandering on the hills in front of the Queens Pyramids… in what would be known as “The Twelve Dreams of the Sun’, performed Live, by avant garde French composer Jean Michel Jarre and an entourage of fellow Egyptian musicians and dancers
This is just the beginning of a journey, a life I feel so thankful for, filled with amazing experiences in exotic, far away locations, inspiring a variety of artistic expressions in many different yet connected mediums.
jOnezi aka David Thomas Griffith Jones was born September 30,1955 in Victoria, BC Canada; Which happened to be the day James Dean the matinee idol of the silver screen past away tragically in a car accident in California.
Whatever anyone might think of the synergy or serendipity of ones life, or the conjecture and rumours of said person or other persons; the multitude of world’s experienced ‘Sojourns’ of artist/world traveller jOnezi aka David Thomas Griffith Jones is an incredible story of multi-cultural experiences, spirituality, love, adventure and artistic expression.
Inexplicably propelled by a mysterious seemingly ‘other worldly’ energy, jOnezi unconsciously embarked, on an omni-visual odyssey experiencing multi-cultural pleasures, dangers and eccentricities.
